Well as some of you may or may not know I used to play World of Warcraft.
Yes I know it's a big suprise! Well, anyway I helped create this guild that is now around number 4 on that server.
*Way to go guys.* I was a paladin tank named vaen. As an officer of the guild I sought out to make the guild better
in any way possible. So I made them a website to colaborate on :P
When I got with the guild leader and asked him about what he wanted he first pointed me towards a Crimson Fury website. Crimson Fury was the number one guild on that server. Their website was poorly put together with little info from an automatically generated guild website by guildomatic or something like that. Our guild leader westan said he didn't want anything to fancy. So I came up with a simple yet effective index page for our guild. I based it on the Crimson Fury website that the guild leader had shown me. I didn't copy the website but took important key features from it that would be valuable to the look and feel of my guilds website.
As I have said before the guild leader didn't want anything fancy. So for a collaborative tool I downloaded and installed phpbb3 for the guild. As we all know phpbb is a forum system. I made him administrator and found a neat little template that went well with the design I had already made.
Since then I have retired from World of Warcraft. It may be temporarily or indefinate. Who knows? Although I will continue to manage and keep their website up for as long as they want me to. They were a great group of people and I would never let them down.
A good friend chao xu, with the screen name mgccl was talking with me and we
found out that he was logoless. Now I'm no master at creating an identity
for a company, or anyone for that matter, but I think I did a fair job on
creating his first logo.
As me and chao xu were talking about php and java, along with various other languages we were thinking of ideas for his logo. I had thought, hey why don't I take some asian looking guy and make him look drawn. Before I did so, I asked chao xu what he thought the logo should be like, and he said the same thing! Great minds think alike.
Well, I got some asian guy off google images and made him look drawn, but it just wasn't quite right. I showed him the image, he liked the technique, but he knew it wasn't right too. I told him to give me a pic of himself and I'd use the technique on his picture. He did accordingly and we came up with an amazing logo so we thought. I showed him the finished design/project, and right as I did, I thought of a finisher I could use on it. I laid over his drawn image the text "mgccl". It set off the logo and made it more of an image for his blog.
Now I have my php friend chao xu hooked up with a nice looking logo, and I feel proud. Next on the agenda, is to hook him up with a better design for that ugly website, lol.
Ever since I first started programming in php one of my ambitions has been
to program a game in php. As we all know, php games can't actually be three
deminsional so I am limited in the extensiveness of my project. This isn't
always a bad thing though since I will be working on this on my own. I say
that, but this won't be done completley on my own, since I can not draw anything
worth a darn. My friend Alex Myers will be drawing all the things for the game,
he doesn't know any php so he'll leave the project code up to me.
I plan to have Gates of Anrah live and running for beta around late May early June. I'm not rushing anything, I want the game to be playable and enjoyable at beta. Right now testing is exclusive invite by me only, and I do apologize.
As far as details about the game go, I am not at liberty to discuss any content or mechanics with the general public yet. The screenshot of the main page is about all you get :P Check back often to see if beta has been released if you are intrested in the game.
